The Pleated Poppy

by sarasophia

The day my box from  The Pleated Poppy arrived in the mail–
you probably heard my squeaks of happiness from wherever you sit in your corner of the world.
I promptly burrowed inside the packaging and upon discovering the pink ruffly scarf tucked away inside….
I vowed to wear it forever.

Love at first sight.

It seemed fitting that my Valentines Day attire
should include my adored pink ruffly scarf…..
and so it did.

My adorable sister wants a Pleated Poppy scarf of her own
and borrowed mine to wear out and about for her special date night.
Can you blame her?
Serious ruffly magic.

(naturally she had to pinky swear she’d bring it back)

The Pleated Poppy shoppe also makes many other adorable things including
swoon-worthy little boy ties, embellished pouches, tote bags, bloom belts, and the list goes on.

I LOVE this wee tie on my son and told him all day he looked like a little professor<3

He said he’d like to wear it again tomorrow, please.
(like mother like son)

Please take a moment to visit The Pleated Poppy and see all the cute things Lindsey makes.
Better yet, come see her in person at Blissdom’s Handmade Marketplace!
You can try on a magical ruffly scarf for yourself,
or grab a few of her petal pushers like I’ll be doing,
…’ll never want to take them off!

Lisa Leonard <3

Today is Valentines Day.
I wake up with the red lips I slept in
and his arms around me.

There is a little silver tree twined about my neck.
The trunk has a tiny heart with a “W+S” carved in it…
Wolf and Sara.

Have I mentioned I’m glad that I’m his?

That I’m glad of this forever?
Every fairytale has its dragons…..
but none could make me quit us.

This kind of love turns every day into a wonderment.
Every moment into a blessing.

He’ll make the kids heart-shaped egg sandwiches
and pour our orange juice in champagne glasses.
Twirl up the ends of his mustache until I laugh
and bring me the last of the daffodils in a mason jar.

My baby is a peculiar sort of perfect but he was made for me.
I’m built around his missing rib and today is for being thankful
for his hand in mine.

Happy Valentines Day from The Lovely Guide and Blissdom’s Handmade Market!
I couldn’t think of anything more romantic to share with you than
my pretty love necklace from Lisa Leonard.
The whimsy and effortlessness of her designs
make it easy to have daily reminders of what is the most important.
The  “wonderment”  banner I have on my living room art wall
is one of my absolute favorite things;
while I can’t help but feel giddy when I wear my little tree pendant.

I’m pretty sure I’ll bring both with me to Blissdom….just to show them off.

Please stop by Lisa’s booth at the Handmade Market—-and visit her beautiful site here.
She always has more pretties than my heart can stand <3

Have the best Valentines Day—make time for romance
for whimsy and most of all to revel in the wonder
of having a special day just to celebrate love.

One of the lovely shops
participating in the Handmade Marketplace is

aPearantly Sew.

Do you see this pretty chevron bag?

It put me in an adventuring mood.

With gorgeous fabrics and perfect clean lines and just enough roominess.
This is my idea of a perfect tote.
Plus I still can’t get enough chevrons ;)

I love wandering around with knapsacks full of apples anyway.
On cold days.
In glitter shoes.

Like Robert Frost…stopping by the woods on a snowy evening.

(Only I’m stopping by the rusty tub on a blustery afternoon.)

How happy is the heart that is open to adventure.
(how happy is the shoulder sporting a chevron bag)

I’m hoping you will be attending the Handmade Marketplace at BlissDom this month.
We are ecstatic to feature such amazing shops as aPearantly Sew.
I’ve been stalking Alison’s blog , and reading about her family and crafty life
makes me want to meet her and see her booth even more<3

Happy Handmade Day!

You wouldn’t believe
(well, maybe you would)
how lovely the BlissDom Handmade Marketplace is shaping up to be.
From the vendors, their booths, and all the special things we are making
to “bedeck the halls”, so to speak….
its just fabulous.

Before next week,
when we begin to feature special posts on each of the market’s gorgeous shops
—and the pretty makers behind the wares—
I wanted to share a few of my favorite blogger-created DIY’s
that might assist you in your BlissDom prep <3

(even if you won’t be attending–these projects are perfect for whenever.
Let’s celebrate handmade!)

DIY 1:Blog Calling Cards by Pugly Pixel

These are SO cute. I’ve had this tutorial bookmarked for months—
little glassine envelopes filled with confetti or sequins in lieu of business cards?
Count me

DIY 2: Ombre’ Glitter Nails by Lauren from Texas

The above photo is from my own excursion into the world of sparkly fingertips
—seriously easy and looks amazing.
The minute Lauren mentioned her DIY on instagram
I ran off to try it and was immediately smitten.
You will be too.

DIY 3:  Golden Geometric Necklace by Sincerely Kinsey

This is so effortlessly chic and would be the perfect thing to get crafty with
and accessorize a special outfit <3

DIY 4: No Sew Leather Pouch by The Allison Show

This one I’m just waiting for leather scraps to complete—absolute perfection.
(I also have a huge blog crush on The Allison Show –she is wicked awesome)

and last but not least,

DIY 5: Glitter Shoes by Elsie

My absolute favorite of all.
I JUST made a pair of these tonight and they have me swooning.
Seriously. Make some.
Flats, boots, heels–pick your poison.

I want each and every one of you to come hang out with us in showers of glitter at BlissDom
– especially for the Handmade Marketplace.
(Umbrella optional)

If you can’t be there…know we’ll be thinking of you and wishing for you.
Try out these DIY’s whether you are headed to Nashville or not
and let us know what you think!
